Activity #1: Musical Glasses

Materials: Musical glasses activity sheet, 7 glasses (5 of the same type), water, spoon

Procedure: Read the book together. Take time to talk about the sounds in every day life. Ask questions throughout the process and see if student can give examples of sound production as it is talked about in the text. When you are finished reading the book, experiment with musical glasses by following the activity sheet. Choose a vocabulary activity to reinforce meaning.

Activity #2: Hands on Activity about Sound Waves

Materials: string, metal hanger, text, table

Procedure: Read the book together as noted above. Refer to experiment on page 29 in the book to find out more about how sound waves travel.
